This is the only institute unique in it's features providing education in textile garments, fashions. The area is now playing major role in the economic development of the country generating millions of job opportunities.

History :

Institute of Textile Technology, Choudwar came in to existence in the year 1983 offering only Diploma Course in Textile Technology. With the advent of technological development and  need of  qualitative technical Man-power in Textile Industries, the Government of Orissa have pleased to start 4 years Degree (B.Tech.) course in Textile Technology from the academic year 1994-95. The B.Tech.course is affiliated to the “Biju Patnaik University of Technology , Rourkela , Orissa”  The Diploma is awarded by the State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Orissa. From 2003-04 academic session B.Tech. Degree in Fashion Technology has been introduced.

SALIENT FEATURE OF THE INSTITUTE

• Admission criteria for B. Tech. Degree through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE ), Orissa only, ensuring Quality intake of the course.

• Admission criteria for diploma students through Diploma Entrance Test (DET) conducted by Directorate of Technical Education & Training, Govt. of Orissa.

• Well versed library and Reading Room facilities .

• The Laboratories of the Institute are well equipped with sophisticated equipment along with CAD/CAM Workstation on Textile Design ,Computer Color Matching on Colouration, Kessoki Evenness Tester, LVI, , Zwick UTM etc.

• A Testing Laboratory of National Standard has been set up with the assistance of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India to provide testing facilities to local manufacturers, traders as well as to promote the research activities in the field of textiles and allied subjects.

• Versatile elective subjects and project work in 7th / 8th Semester of the syllabus ensure
  Student's enrichment in the specialized field (spinning, weaving, chemical processing, Man made fiber) as well as their insight to production, planning and research.

• Effective industry-institute interaction through lecture, seminar, conference, industrial Visits , training programmee, etc.

• Associated with professional, activities of Textile Association of India (TAI). Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Institute of Engineers (IE) etc.
